Mantra Meaning

Our Mantra:

I BRING LIGHT. I GIVE LIGHT.

Lineage:

In true yoga format (all things are connected) we are combining two absolutely different ancient cultures to bring this Mantra to life.

We are using the Sanskrit phrase/ mantra "So Hum" or "I Am" as a reminder that we are "in existence" at all, and that we are complete exactly as we are, in each individual moment.

We combine this with the more complex Latin phrase/ mantra "Lumen de Lumine" "to shed light on light." Which is to say we are to notice our own brightness, to offer a cascading blanket of light for our souls.

Our Monthly Mantra Explained:

"I bring Light, I give Light" circles around the connotations that we have given to the words: light, bright, sun. It is here to open the heart and lift the soul.

  • To drench and immerse you in light.
  • Help you feel open to the world.
  • Fill you with brightness and energy.
  • To aid you in feeling more awake and revitalized.
  • Give you confidence
  • Make you feel strong, untouchable, invincible, -- like the sun.

Add to it:

Think of your loved ones. Send them the positive energy and thoughts.

Uses:

This mantra is meant for opening the heart.

"I bring light. I give light."

  • Light is pure. Saying ‘I am full of light’ will help you clear all dark thoughts, all dark energies. All worries, all envy, all hatred, all guilt. "I bring light indicates that you not only full of light, but that you are bringing it as an offering for those around you and everything you touch." BUT be modest, you bring light for others- you may not BE light for others.
  • Light is power. Think solar power! Repeating this mantra with meaning will help empower you. You'll feel more confident, more able, braver. You'll feel that you can follow your heart, your dreams, your emotions. You will feel freedom.
  • You will feel more open to others, and you will perceive others to be more open-hearted towards you.
